Raul Cuero

While being a basketball player is what I relate to the most when it comes to Raul Cuero, it is certainly not the most you can take away from his life. He understood that sometimes you have to explore new worlds to exceed, even if it meant leaving family and home. He has this sort of "do it yourself" mentality when it comes to wanting something that isn't given to you. While I have not read his book, just watching the interview shed light on some of his great qualities.

He used the talents that he had (and recognized that he had them) to travel and get to places that he wanted to go. He talks about a ceiling of expectations that people put on him, and how it was hard to balance an athletic reputation with an intellectual one.

Through his mindset, we can learn to try and transcend expectations and rise above them so that we can continue to push on. We can change others' expectations by doing the unknown and sort of shocking them.

"Our creativity is created by how we perceive nature." We have to understand our place in nature and build upon that, and then we can go places.
